George Hill Jr, son of George Hill and Mary Sacket, was born in North Gwillimbury, York County, OntarioG, in about 1841.1,2 He married first in King Township, York County, OntarioG, on 24 January 1865, Christina McKinnon, daughter of Anthony McKinnon and Christina McEachney.3 Christina McKinnon was born in King TownshipG on 6 February 1842.4 She died aged 39 on 30 September 1881 and was buried at St Andrew's Presbyterian Cemetery, Nobleton, York CountyG.5,6 He married second at St Andrew's Manse, King TownshipG, on 27 February 1883, Jane Cutting, daughter of Matthew Cutting and Jane Hanstock.7 Jane Cutting was born in King TownshipG on 15 March 1855.7 She died there aged 62 on 21 September 1917.7
     In 1851 George was living in North Gwillimbury, York County, OntarioG, in the household of his parents George and Mary, and was recorded in the census as George Hill, aged nine and born in Canada.8
     In 1871 he was living in King, York CountyG, and was recorded as George Hill, a farmer and carpenter, aged 30. Living with him were his wife Christina, 28, their children, Thomas, 5, Josephine, 3, and Joseph, aged six months, and his widowed mother Mary, 65.9
