Myrtle Della Sackett, daughter of George Washington Sackett and Mary Ann Wade, was born in Dexter, Washtenaw County, MichiganG, in June 1876.1,2 She died aged 53 in Wayne County, OhioG, on 1 July 19293,4 and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, DexterG.5 Myrtle understated her age in later years, and this was carried over to her newspaper obituary and gravestone inscription. She would have been 53 at death, not 50. A birth record has not been found but the most reliable indicators would be her stated age of 4 years in the 1880 census and her stated birth date of June 1876 in the 1900 census. Myrtle had a son, Lawrence Melvin Sackett, by Henry Hayes, on 5 October 1893 in DexterG. Had Myrtle been 50 at death, she would have been only 14 at Lawrence's birth. Myrtle married in DexterG on 5 October 1903, Orson Goodrich, son of Ed Goodrich and Abina Kingman.6 Orson was born in Pittsford, Hillsdale County, MichiganG, in 1878.7 He died aged 78 in Wooster, Wayne CountyG, on 21 December 1954.
     In 1880 Myrtle was living in Dexter, Washtenaw County, MichiganG, in the household of her parents George and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Myrtie Sackett, aged four and born in Michigan.8
     In 1900 she was living at Ann Arbor Street, DexterG, in the household of B B Williams, and was recorded as Myrta Sackett, a servant, aged 23, single.9
     In 1910 she was living at Cleveland Street, Battle Creek, Calhoun County, MichiganG, in the household of her husband Orson Goodrich, 32, a machinist in a foundry, and was recorded as Myrtle Goodrich, aged 29 [actually 33]. Also in the household was Myrtle's son Melvin, 17, described as her brother. Myrtle was also stated in the census to have had no children.10
     In 1920 she was living at Beck Avenue, Akron, Summit County, OhioG, and was recorded as Myrtle Goodrich, aged 41 [actually 43]. She was living with her husband Orson, 42, a brass finisher, in the household of Edward C Oplinger.11
