Alice Mildred Calaway, daughter of Orian Clyde Calaway and Bertha Viola Sackett, was born in Plymouth, Ashtabula County, OhioG, on 1 December 1912.1,2 She died aged 81 in Waverly, Bremer County, IowaG, on 1 June 19941,2 and was buried at North View Cemetery, Gustavus, Trumbull County, OhioG.3 She married in 1934, William Avalon Shipman, son of Carleton Jasper Shipman and Willow Ann Higgins.1,3 William was born in GustavusG on 7 March 1912.3 He died aged 59 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, OhioG, on 27 February 1972 and was buried at North View Cemetery, GustavusG.3
     In 1920 Alice was living at Main Road, Gustavus, Trumbull County, OhioG, in the household of her parents Orian and Bertha, and was recorded in the census as Alice Calloway, aged seven and born in Ohio.4
     In 1930 she was living in GustavusG in the household of her parents Orian and Bertha, and was recorded as Alice Calaway, aged 17.5
