Samuel L Sackett, grain dealer, son of Rev Nathaniel Sackett and Margaret Lazear, was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York StateG, on 6 April 1831.1,2 He died in Bancroft, NebraskaG, on 19 December 1892.3 He married in Ovid, New York StateG, on 15 July 1853, Anna Larkin.1,3
     In 1860 Samuel was living in Romulus, Seneca County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as S L Sackett, a farm laborer, aged 29 and born in Orange County. Living with him were his wife Ann, 27, born in Ireland, and their children, Sarah, 10, Mary, 7, Wilber, 5 [actually 3], and Henrietta, aged two.4
     In 1870 he was living in RomulusG and was recorded as Samuel Sackett, a grain dealer, aged 39 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Ann, 38, and their children, Sarah, 15, Mary, 14, Wilbur, 13, Henrietta, 12, Samuel, 9, Hamlin, 5, Helen, 1, and Charles, aged one month.5
     In 1880 he was living at Bell Creek, Burt County, NebraskaG, and was recorded as Samuel L Sackett, a laborer, head of household, married, aged 49 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Anna, 48, their children, Hellen, 11, Charles, 10, and Sarah, 25, and Sarah's husband Henry Kenny, 27.6
     In 1900 Samuel's widow Anna was living in Craig, Burt County, NebraskaG, and was recorded in the census as Anna Sackett, head of household, a widow, born in Ireland in 1832. She had emigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1858, and had eight children, of whom six were living. Living with her were her son Charles, 30, a farmer, and grandson Frank Kine, aged six.7
