Grant Talbot Sackett, son of Charles Albert Sackett and Clara G Arpen, was born in Keene, Cheshire County, New HampshireG, on 26 June 1914.1,2 He died aged 37 in Babylon, Suffolk County, New York StateG, on 23 March 1952.3 He was buried at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, Nassau County, New York StateG, on 27 March 1952.4 He married first before 1940, Mabel Agnes ___.5 He married second in Babylon, Suffolk County, New York StateG, on 9 August 1950, Ethel Dolores Murphy, daughter of Walter H Murphy and Anna F Godfrey.6 Ethel was born in Brooklyn, New York CityG, on 30 December 1918.7 She died aged 33 in BabylonG on 23 March 19528 and was buried at Long Island National CemeteryG on 27 March 1952.9 Ethel served as a nurse in the US Army during the Second World War. Grant and Ethel were drowned when their sailboat capsized.
     In 1920 Grant was living at James Avenue, West SpringfieldG, in the household of his parents Charles and Clara, and was recorded in the census as Grant Sackett, aged five and born in New Hampshire.10
     In 1930 he was living at Main Street, Agawam, Hampden CountyG, in the household of his parents Charles and Clara, and was recorded as Grant Sackett, aged 15.11
     Grant completed a World War II draft registration card on 16 October 1940. He was aged 26 and was employed at the Agawam Woolen Company. He was living at 2 Leonard Street, Agawam, Hampden CountyG, with his wife Mabel.12

Bodies of 3 Men, Woman, Recovered
AMITYVILLE, March 24. (AP)—The bodies of three men and a woman, drowned when two small sailboats capsized, were recovered today from Great South Bay.
The dead, all employees of the Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corp., of Farmingdale, were identified as:
Mrs. Ethel Sackett, 33, Lindhurst, a nurse at the plant; her husband Grant T. Sackett, 35, head of quality control of the stratos division; George DeScheppcr, a junior administration engineer of guided missiles, Babylon; and Edwin L. Anning, layout draftsman of guided missiles, Babylon.
Search for the missing boats was begun early today by the Coast Guard when Mrs. Anning reported them overdue. The four persons had put out in the two 15-foot boats Sunday.
