Lois M Abbey, daughter of Edson J Abbey and Carrie Elizabeth Sackett, was born on 8 October 1891.1 She married at Chester, Middlesex County, ConnecticutG, on 20 June 1912, Robert H Markham.2 Robert was born in ConnecticutG in about 1888.3
     In 1900 Lois was living at Sherman Avenue, Jersey City, Hudson County, New JerseyG, in the household of her widowed mother Carrie, and was recorded in the census as Lois Abbey, at school, aged eight and born in Pennsylvania.4
     In 1910 she was living at Pleasant Street, Chester, Middlesex County, ConnecticutG, in the household of her widowed mother Carrie, and was recorded as Lois M Abbey, a threader in a wire goods factory, aged 18.5
     In 1930 she was living at Milbrook Street, Essex, Middlesex County, ConnecticutG, in the household of her husband Robert Markham, 41, a truck former, and was recorded as Lois M Markham, aged 38. Living with them were their children, Dorothy, 15, Leslie, 13, Helen, 11, and Virginia, aged nine, and Lois's widowed mother Carrie Abbey, 71.6
