George Dewey Sackett, also known as George Leo Sackett, son of Thomas E Sackett and Kathryn Marie "Katie" Royer, was born in St Louis, MissouriG, on 31 July 1898.1 He died aged 49 in St Louis City Hospital, St Louis, MissouriG, on 27 February 1948 and was buried at Calvary Cemetery, St LouisG, on 1 March 1948.2 He married first in about 1919, Margaret ___.3 He married second in about 1925, Sophie ___.3
In 1900 George was living at Morgan Street, St Louis, MissouriG, in the household of his parents Thomas and Katie, and was recorded in the census as Geo Dewey Sackett, aged one and born in Missouri.4
In 1910 George was living at Call Street, St Louis, MissouriG, in the household of his parents Thomas and Katie, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, aged twelve.5
George completed a World War I draft registration card on 12 September 1918. He was aged 20 and was a laborer employed by W W Mathews. He was living at 2945 Gamble Street, St Louis, MissouriG, with his mother Katie.6
In 1920 he was living at Easton Avenue, St LouisG, and was recorded as George Sackett, a washer in a bakery, head of household, aged 21. Living with him were his wife Margaret, 17, and their daughter Helen, aged two months.7
George was listed in the St Louis City Directory in 1929 as a laborer, living at 4014 Glasgow Avenue, St LouisG.8
In 1930 he was living at 4025 North 25th Street, St Louis, MissouriG, and was recorded as George L Sackett, confectionary store proprietor, head of household, aged 32. Living with him were his second wife, Sophie, 22, and his daughter Helen, 11, by his first marriage. There was also a male lodger in the household.9
In 1940 he was living at 5130 San Francisco Street, St LouisG, and was recorded as George Sackett, a window washer at a drug company, head of household, aged 41. His wife Sofie, 32, was living with him.10
George completed a World War II young men's draft registration card, probably in 1942. He was living in St LouisG and was employed by the United Drug Company.11
