Leander Dorman Sackett, son of James Calvin Sackett and Anna Eliza Harris, was born in St Francis, Cheyenne County, KansasG, on 17 November 1896.1,2 He died aged 81 in Multnomah County, OregonG, on 26 March 19782,3,4,5 and was buried at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah CountyG.6,7 He married first in Milbank, Grant County, South DakotaG, on 17 October 1919, Anna Jane Otley, daughter of Francis William Otley and Katherine Verhuel.8 Anna was born in Le Mars, Plymouth County, IowaG, on 6 December 1895.9,10 Leander and Anna were apparently divorced in the early 1920s. She married second at Aberdeen, Brown County, South DakotaG, on 16 December 1922 Henry O Hanson.11 Anna died aged 95 in Big Stone County, MinnesotaG, on 9 December 199012 and was buried at Mound Cemetery, Ortonville, Big Stone CountyG.6 Leander married second in Le Mars, Plymouth County, IowaG, on 30 December 1925, Imogene Hazel Fletcher, daughter of Earl Richmond Fletcher and Margaret Brunton.13 Imogene was born in Craig, Burt County, NebraskaG, on 2 February 1902.9,6 She died aged 90 in Washington County, OregonG, on 25 March 199214 and was buried at Willamette National CemeteryG.6,15
     In 1910 Leander was living in Arizona, Burt County, NebraskaG, in the household of his parents James and Anna, and was recorded in the census as Leander D Sackett, aged 12 and born in Kansas.16
     Leander served from 23 September 1917 as a Private in the US Army during the First World War. He was released from service on 12 May 1919.7,5
     In 1920 he was living at Second Street, Ortonville, Big Stone County, MinnesotaG, and was recorded as Leander D Sackett, a newsagent, head of household, aged 26 [actually 23]. He rented his home. His wife Anna, 25, was living with him. There was also a male lodger in the household.17
     In 1930 he was living at France Avenue, Tujunga, Los Angeles County, CaliforniaG, and was recorded as Leander D Sackett, a railroad brakeman, head of household, aged 33. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Imogene, 27, and their daughter Margaret, aged one. Also in the household were Imogene's unmarried sister Marjorie, 24, and their widowed mother Margaret Fletcher, 60.18
     Leander completed a World War II draft registration card on 27 April 1942. He was aged 45, employed at NPT & Co, Union Station, Portland, and was living at 6218 SW Garden Home Road, PortlandG, with his wife Imogene.19
