Alfred J Phillips, son of William Phillips and Catherine "Kate" Sackett, was born in Falmouth, CornwallG, in about 1898. He died aged 20 in Namur, BelgiumG, on 21 March 1919. He is commemorated on the family gravestone in Teignmouth Cemetery, DevonG.1
     In 1901 Alfred was living at 1 Ingestre Street, Harwich, EssexG, in the household of his parents William and Catherine, and was recorded in the census as Alfred J Phillips, aged two and born in Falmouth.2
