Emma Polly Sackett, daughter of David Hammond Sackett and Caroline Ames, was born in Garden Prairie, Boone County, IllinoisG, on 1 October 1842.1 She died aged 97 in Belvidere, Boone County, IllinoisG, on 10 August 19402 and was buried at Garden Prairie CemeteryG on 13 August 1940.3 She married first in Boone CountyG on 1 October 1860, Albert E Locke.2 Albert died of dysentry while serving as a sergeant in the 95th Illinois Volunteers in the American Civil War on 25 October 1863.4 Emma married second on 23 September 1866, Myron Willard Poyer.2 Myron was born in OhioG on 28 July 1824.5,6 He died aged 76 on 22 August 1900 and was buried at Garden Prairie CemeteryG.6
     In 1870 Emma was living in Marengo, McHenry County, IllinoisG, in the household of her husband Myron, 46, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Emma Poyer, aged 27 and born in Illinois. Living with them were Myron's children, Clara, 19, and John, 17, and Emma's daughter, Berta, aged seven. There was also a male farm worker in the household.7
     In 1880 she was living in Marengo, McHenry County, IllinoisG, in the household of her husband Myron, 54, a farmer, and was recorded as Emma Poyer, aged 39 and born in Illinois. Living with them was Emma's daughter Alberta A Locke, aged 17.8
     In 1900 she was living at West Church Street, Marengo, McHenry County, IllinoisG, in the household of her husband Myron, 74, and was recorded as Emma P Poyer, aged 57.9
