Herbert Henry Thomas, son of John Henry Thomas and Anne Elizabeth "Annie" Sackett, was born in Dagenham, EssexG, in 1887.1,2 He married in Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG, on 7 May 1908, Emily Rose Fisher, daughter of George Washington Fisher and Julia Wilkshire.3 Emily was born in EnglandG in about 1886.4
     In 1891 Herbert was living at 40 Lower Cottages, Creeksworth?, Barking, EssexG, in the household of his parents John and Annie, and was recorded in the census as Herbert H Thomas, aged three and born in Dagenham.5
     In 1901 he was living at Grosvenor Terrace, DagenhamG, in the household of his parents John and Annie, and was recorded as Herbert H Thomas, an agricultural labourer, aged 13 and born in Dagenham.6
     Herbert emigrated to CanadaG in 1905 with his parents and siblings.7
