Emily Ada Sackett, daughter of Barzillai Sackett and Sarah Walker Harlow, was born in Ramsgate, KentG, on 6 August 18761,2,3 and baptized at St George's Church, RamsgateG, on 24 September 1878.4 She died aged 93 in Thanet, KentG, in 1969.5 She was unmarried.
In 1881 Emily was living at 1 Northwood, St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, and was recorded in the census as Emily A Sackett, aged 4 and born in St Lawrence, daughter of Barzilla Sackett.6
In 1891 she was living at West Northdown, Margate, KentG, in the household of her parents Barzillai and Sarah, and was recorded as Ada Sackett, a scholar, aged 14, and born in Ramsgate.7
In 1901 she was living at East Northdown Farm, Northdown, St Johns, MargateG, and was recorded as Ada Sackett, aged 23 and born in Ramsgate, Kent, the unmarried daughter of Barzillai Sackett.8
In 1911 she was living at East Northdown, MargateG, in the household of her parents Barzillai and Sarah, and was recorded as Ada Sackett, single, aged 28 [actually 34] and born in Ramsgate.9
In 1921 she was living at 25 Approach Road, MargateG, and was recorded as Emily Ada Sackett, head of household, aged 40, single. Her widowed mother
Sarah, 76, was living with her. There was also a female domestic servant in the household.10
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Emily was living at 59 Magazine Road, AshfordG, with her sisters Rosie and Florence. They each understated their age in the Register, Rosie and Emily by four years and Florence by five years.11
