Frank Edward Sackett, son of Edward Brewer Sackett and Jane Bax, was born in St Peter in Thanet, KentG, on 10 October 18681,2 and baptized at St Peter in ThanetG on 15 November 1868.1 He died aged 39 in St Peter in ThanetG in 1907.3 He married at St Pauls' Church, Cliftonville, Margate, KentG, on 11 October 1902, Ellen Marion Stedall, daughter of James Henry Stedall.4,5,6 Ellen was born at MargateG in about 18717 and died age 79 in Thornton Heath, SurreyG, on 7 August 1950.8,9
In 1871 Frank was living at 1 Blackstone Cottages, St Lawrence in Thanet, KentG, and was recorded in the census as Frank Sackett, aged two and born in St Peter's, son of Edward Sackett.10
In 1881 he was living at 7 Victoria Road, St Peter's, KentG, in the household of his parents Edward and Jane, and was recorded as Frank Sackett, a scholar, aged 12 and born in Ramsgate.11
Frank served in the Royal Highland Regiment (the Black Watch) for 12 years from 28 October 1890. He was promoted sergeant in 1897. He served in Gibraltar, Egypt, Mauritius, India, and South Africa (twice). He fought in the Second Boer War and was severely wounded at the Battle of Magersfontein in December 1899.12
In 1911 Frank's widow Ellen was living at 19 Walpole Road, Margate, KentG, and was recorded in the census as Ellen Sackett, a lodging house keeper, head of household, a widow aged 40 and born in Margate. Living with her were her children, Frances, 7, and Edward, aged three.13
In 1921 she was living at 19 Walpole Road, MargateG, and was recorded as Ellen Marion Sackett, a widow, head of household, aged 57. living with her were her children, Frances Ellen, 17, and Edward, aged 13. Also in the household were her uncle, George Yeomanson, 67, and brother, Charles Stedall, 39.14
