Ellen Sackett, daughter of Edward Brewer Sackett and Jane Bax, was born in St Peter in Thanet, Kent^G, in 1856^1,2 and baptized at St Peter in Thanet^G on 11 May 1856.² She died aged 83 in Chelsea, London^G, in 1939³ and was buried at Brompton Cemetery, London^G.⁴ She married at Ebenezer Chapel, Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 11 September 1881, Vincent William Miles, son of Vincent Miles and Martha ___.^5,4 Vincent was born in Margate, Kent^G, in about 1857⁶ and baptized at St John in Thanet^G on 11 April 1858.⁷ He died aged 46 at St George Hanover Square, London^G, in 1904.⁸
     In 1861 Ellen was living at 7 Brick Lane, St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, in the household of her parents Edward and Jane, and was recorded in the census as Ellen Sackett, a scholar, aged five, and born in St Peter's.⁹
     In 1871 she was living at 1 Blackstone Cottages, St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, and was recorded as Ellen Sackett, a nursemaid, aged 15 and born in St Peter's, daughter of Edward Sackett.¹⁰
     In 1881 she was living at 18 St John's Road, Margate, Kent^G, in the household of James Harris, 48, a master grocer, and his wife Hannah, and was recorded as Ellen Sackett, a domestic servant housemaid, unmarried, aged 25 and born in St. Peter's.¹¹
     In 1901 she was living at 54 Yeomans Row, Brompton, Kensington, London^G, in the household of her husband Vincent Miles, 43, a cheesemonger, and was recorded as Ellen Miles, a dressmaker, aged 44. Living with them were their children, Charles, 17, Katherine, 14, Frederick, 13, Florence, 12, Grace, 10, Ellenor, 8, Albert, 7, and Vera, aged five.¹²
     In 1911 she was living at 54 Yeomans Row, Brompton, Kensington, London^G, and was recorded as Ellen Miles, a dressmaker, a widow, aged 55. Living with her were her unmarried children, Charles, 27, Frederick, 23, Grace, 20, and Albert, 17.¹³
