William Sackett Jarman, grocer, son of James William Jarman and Mary Kirby, was born in Herne, KentG, in 18361 and baptized there on 6 June 1836.2 He married first at the Independent Chapel, Ramsgate, KentG, on 25 March 1856, Elizabeth Sarah Offen.3,4 She was born in RamsgateG in 18357 and died in 1873.8 He married second in Thanet, KentG, in 1874, Eliza Ann White.5 She was born in about 18459 and died aged 32 in Dartford, KentG, in 1878.10 He married third in Islington, MiddlesexG, in 1880, Eliza Williams.6 She was born in Deal, KentG, in about 1845.1
     In 1851 William was living at 13 Alfred Cottages, Ramsgate, KentG, in the household of his parents James and Mary, and was recorded in the census as William S Jarman, a grocer's boy, aged 14 and born in Herne.11
     In 1881 he was living at 35 Great Queen Street, Dartford, KentG, and was recorded as William S Jarman, a grocer, head of household, married, aged 44 and born in Kent. Living with him were his third wife Eliza, 35, and children from his first marriage, Kate, 15, and William, 12.12
