 Notes & Citations

  1. Date of birth based on age at death. A calculation of their dates of birth from their ages at death suggests that Patience and her sister Sarah were twins. However, the witness statement of April 1683 when Sarah gave evidence in the court action Sackett v. Haite gives her age as 26, suggesting she was a year or two younger than Patience.
  2. Monumental inscription on the grave of Patience Sacket (St Mary's Church, Sandwich, Kent), "Here Lyeth/ Buried the Body of/ Patience Sacket/ Daughter of Cap/ Jeffrey Sacket/ one of the Jurats/ of this Towne/ Died the 22d of/ September 1676/ Aged 21."
