Jay Beaumont Sackett, son of Orville Dexter Sackett and Angeline Marie Steward, was born in Roberts, Ford County, IllinoisG, on 6 February 18681,2 and died aged 81 in Filer, Twin Falls County, IdahoG, on 28 April 1949.3 He married first in Rankin, Vermilion County, IllinoisG, in 1889, Margaret Agnes Sheehan.2 She was born in Ludlow, Champaign County, IllinoisG, in 18732 and died aged 34 in Paxton, Ford County, IllinoisG, on 6 January 1907.2 He married second in PaxtonG on 1 October 1909, Bessie M Griffin, daughter of James C Griffin and Emeline Wright.2 She was born in IllinoisG on 20 January 18814 and died aged 78 in FilerG on 13 November 1959.5
In 1880 Jay was living at Lyman, Ford County, IllinoisG, in the household of his parents Orville and Angeline, and was recorded in the census as Jay B Sackett, at school, aged 12 and born in Illinois.6
In 1900 he was living at Dixon Street, Butler, Vermilion County, IllinoisG, and was recorded as Jay Sackett, a butcher, head of household, aged 31. Living with him were his wife Maggie, 28, and their children, Raymond, 10, Faye, 7, Bertie [Birdie], 4, and Florence, aged three. There was also a male boarder in the household.7
In 1910 he was living in Paxton, Ford County, IllinoisG, and was recorded as Jay B Sackett, a self-employed horseman, head of household, aged 42. Living with him were his second wife Bessie, 29, and his children by his first wife: Raymond, 20, Birdie, 14, Florence, 13, and Lawrence, aged seven. Jay's widowed mother Angeline, 69, was also living with them.8
In 1920 he was living at West Center Street, Paxton, Ford County, IllinoisG, and was recorded as Jay B Sackett, a livestock salesman, head of household, aged 52. He owned his house. Living with him were his wife Bessie, 39, his sons by his first marriage, Raymond, 29, and Lawrence, 16, and Jay and Bessie's son Orville, aged nine.9
In 1930 he was living in Filer, Twin Falls County, IdahoG, and was recorded as Jay B Sacket, a farmer, head of household, aged 63. He owned his farm. Living with him were his wife Bessie, 49, their son Orville, 19, and Jay's son Raymond, 37 (actually 39.)10
