Franklin Eli Knox, son of Leverett Knox and Laura Parks, was born in MassachusettsG on 1 October 1848.1,2 He married in about December 1870, Helen Smith.1
     In 1880 Franklin was living at Chester, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, and was recorded in the census as Frank Knox, a farmer, head of household, aged 31 and born in Massachusetts. Living with him were his wife Helen, aged 30 and also born in Massachusetts, their son Nelson, aged four, Franklin's widowed father Leverett, aged 75, and Franklin's brother Warren, aged 44.2
