Nancy Jane Sackett, daughter of Milton H Sackett and Anna Sherwood, was born in OhioG on 14 May 1842.1,2 She married in Delaware County, OhioG, on 3 March 1858, Lucius D Smith.3 Lucius was born on 28 November 1833.4 He died aged 84 on 28 October 1918 and was buried at Cheshire Cemetery, Delaware, OhioG.4
In 1850 Nancy was living in Berlin, Delaware County, OhioG, in the household of her parents Milton and Anna, and was recorded in the census as Nancy Jane Sackett, aged eight and born in Ohio.5
In 1860 she was living in Berlin, Delaware County, OhioG, in the household of her husband Lucius, 24, a farmer, and was recorded as Nancy Smith, aged 18 and born in Ohio.6
In 1870 she was living in Normal, McLean County, IllinoisG, in the household of her husband Lucius, 38, a carpenter, and was recorded as Nancy Smith, aged 26 [actually 28]. Their daughter Ada, aged seven, was living with them.7
In 1880 she was living in Normal, McLean CountyG, in the household of her husband Lucius, 46, a carpenter, and was recorded as Nancy J Smith, aged 38. Their daughter Ada, 17, was living with them. William Sackett, 22, a cousin, who Ada was to marry later that year, was a boarder in the household.8
