Alfred Arthur Sackett, son of Alfred Arthur Sackett and Jane Louisa Townshend, was born in Warrington, LancashireG, on 24 March 1908.1,2 He died aged 72 in Braintree, EssexG, in 1980.3 He married first in West Ham, EssexG, in 1934, Florence Ivy Styles, daughter of ___ Merrington.4,5 Florence was born in West HamG on 7 May 19106,2 and died aged 33 in EssexG in 1943.7 He married second in East Ham, EssexG, in 1944, Violet Sarah Whyberd, daughter of ___ Whyberd and ___ Harper.8 Violet was born in Stepney, LondonG, on 7 January 19019,2 and died aged 92 in BraintreeG in November 1993.10
     In 1911 Alfred was living at 98 Lawrence Avenue, Manor Park, East Ham, EssexG, in the household of his mother Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Alfred Arthur Sackett, aged three and born in Winwick, Lancashire.11
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Alfred and Florence were living at 54 Parkhurst Road, East Ham, EssexG. Alfred was a public works contractor's labourer.12 Alfred's future second wife Violet was living at 81 Third Avenue, East HamG. She was single and employed as a ledger clerk.13
