Leslie John Sackett, son of Robert George Sackett and Emma Matilda Brown, was born in Margate, KentG, on 11 April 1907.1,2,3 He died aged about 89 in Canterbury, KentG, in April 1996.4 He married in Thanet, KentG, in 1932, Lottie Agnes Sarah Sutton.5,6 Lottie was born on 4 July 1910.3
In 1911 Leslie was living at 26 Grange Road, MargateG, in the household of his parents Robert and Emma, and was recorded in the census as Leslie John Sackett, aged three and born in Margate.7
In 1921 he was living at 9 St Vincent Place, RamsgateG, in the household of his widowed mother Emma, and was recorded as Leslie J Sackett, a greengrocer's errand boy, aged 14.8
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Leslie and Lottie were living at 18 Church Road, Ramsgate, KentG. Leslie was a coal miner.9
