Merritt S Pierpont, son of Philemon Pierpont and Mehitabel Sackett, was born in North Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut^G, on 8 October 1799.^1,2,3,4 He married there on 15 June 1823, his second cousin, Bede Pierpont.^2,3,4 They later removed to Oxford, Chenango County, New York State^G.⁴ Bede was born on 10 December 1800^2,3,4 and died in North Haven^G on 21 February 1842.^2,5,6
