John Thompson Sackett, lawyer, son of Guernsey Sackett and Gertrude Rebecca Bertine, was born in Manhattan, New York CityG, on 1 October 1864.1,2 He died aged 83 in South Amenia, Dutchess County, New York StateG, on 16 September 1948 and was buried at Amenia Island CemeteryG.2 He married in 1891, Lucie Barlow Reynolds, daughter of Justus Powers Reynolds and Nancy Barlow.3 Lucie was born in South Amenia, Dutchess County, New York StateG, on 16 October 1867.4 She died aged 92 in New York StateG on 13 May 1960 and was buried at Amenia Island CemeteryG.5
     In 1870 John was living in New York CityG in the household of his parents Guernsey and Gertrude, and was recorded in the census as Jno Sackett, aged six and born in New York.6
     In 1880 he was living in Brooklyn, New York CityG, in the household of his parents Guernsey and Gertrude, and was recorded as John Sackett, aged 15.7
     John was named as a beneficiary in his mother's will made in Brooklyn, New York CityG, on 29 June 1892. He was to inherit, equally with his sister Fannie, all real and personal estate. The will was proved on 23 May 1900.8
     In 1910 he was living at Hancock Street, BrooklynG, and was recorded as John T Sackett, a lawyer in general practice, head of household, aged 44. Living with him were his wife Lucie, 41, and their children, Justine, 14, and Guernsey, aged five. There were also three female servants in the household.9
     In 1920 he was living at South Amenia Road, Amenia, Dutchess CountyG, and was recorded as John T Sackett, a lawyer, head of household, aged 50. Living with him were his wife Lucie, 48, and their children, Justine, 21, and Guernsey, aged 16.10
