Alice Maud Sackett, daughter of Samuel John Sackett and Mary Ann Gardner, was born in Lambeth, SurreyG, in 1874.1 She married in St Saviour Southwark, LondonG, in 1892, Frederick John Ryland.2
     In 1881 Alice was living at 20A Saville Place, Lambeth, SurreyG, in the household of her parents Samuel and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Maud Sackett, a scholar, aged seven, and born in Lambeth.3
     In 1901 she was living at 134 Falmouth Road, Newington, LondonG, in the household of her husband Frederick, 29, a glue merchant, and was recorded as Alice M Ryland, aged 28 and born in Lambeth. Living with them were ther children, Mary, 8, and Lillian, aged five. Also in the household was a visitor, Daffyd Lewis, 41.4
