Jonathan Henry Sackett, son of Daniel Webster Sackett and Lua Louisa Burdick, was born in Pleasant Vale, Pike County, IllinoisG, on 2 June 1895.1,2,3 He died aged 84 in Alton, Madison County, IllinoisG, on 20 July 19794,5 and was buried at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, Madison CountyG.6 He married in Jacksonville, Morgan County, IllinoisG, on 11 May 1921, Jane Bell Powers, daughter of William Powers and Mary Jane Martin.7 Jane was born in Bluffs, Scott County, IllinoisG, on 19 May 1896.7 She died aged 66 in AltonG on 6 October 1962 and was buried at Rose Lawn Memory GardensG.6
     In 1900 Jonathan was living in Hadley, Pike County, IllinoisG, in the household of his parents Daniel and Lua, and was recorded in the census as Johnthan H Sackett, aged four and born in Illinois.8
     In 1910 he was living in HadleyG in the household of his parents Daniel and Lua, and was recorded as John H Sackett, aged 15.9
     Jonathan completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was aged 22 and was a farmer living at Baylis, Pike County, IllinoisG.3 He served in the US Army from 26 June 1918 to 26 February 1919.5
     In 1920 he was living in HadleyG in the household of his widowed father Daniel, and was recorded as Johnathan Sackett, a laborer on the home farm, aged 25, single.10
     In 1930 he was living at Main Street, Crescent City, Iroquois County, IllinoisG, and was recorded as Jonathan H Sackett, a laborer, head of household, aged 34. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Jane, 33, and their children, Daniel, 7, Josephine, 6, Byron, 4, and Glen, aged two.11
     In 1940 he was living in Hadley, Pike County, IllinoisG, and was recorded as Jonathan Sackett, a farm laborer, head of household, aged 44. Living with him were his wife Jane, 43, and their children, Daniel, 18, Josephine, 16, Byron, 14, Glen, 12, and Mary, aged eight.12
     Jonathan completed a World War II draft registration card on 27 April 1942. He was living at Baylis, Pike County, IllinoisG, aged 46, and was a farm worker.13

Mrs. Sackett
In ill health for three years Mrs. Jane Bell Powers Sackett, wife of Jonathan Sackett, died at 9:45 p. m. Saturday at her home, 3010 Edgewood Ave. She had resided in Alton for 19 years.
     A former resident of near Meredocia, she was born May 19, 1896, at Bluffs. She was married to Jonathan Sackett, May 11, 1921, at Jacksonville.
     Mrs. Sackett was a member of Curdle Heights Baptist Church.
     Surviving beside her husband are two sons, Byron, Rolling Meadows, and Glen, Alton; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Pennock, Bethalto, and Mrs. Mary Carr, Edwardsville; a sister, Mrs. Henry Mattis, Arenzville; two brothers, L. B. Powers, Concord, and Lloyd, Meredosia; 14 grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
     A son, Daniel, preceded her in death.
     Funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p. m. in Curdle Heights Baptist Church by the Rev. Lolard Simmons. Burial will be in Roselawn Memory Gardens.
     The body is at Smith Funeral Home, Alton, where friends may call after 7 p. m. today.
