John Benjamin Sackett, son of Nathan Sackett and Martha Patricia Duncan, was born in IndianaG about 1828.3 He died while going west on a wagon train in ArkansasG on 1 January 1879.4 He married at Putnam County, IndianaG, on 3 August 1850, Elizabeth Bandy.2
In 1850 John was living in Cloverdale, Putnam County, IndianaG, in the household of his parents Nathan and Martha, and was recorded in the census as John B Sackett, a carpenter, aged 22 and born in Indiana. His wife Elizabeth, 15, was living with him.5
In 1870 he was living in Cloverdale, Putnam County, IndianaG, and was recorded as John Sackett, a farmer, aged 42 and born in Indiana. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 35, and their children, George, 18, Martha, 16, Nancy, 14, Frances, 12, William, 10, Mary, 8, Laura, 6, and James, aged four.6
In 1880 John's widow Elizabeth was living in Harmony, Clay County, IndianaG, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Sackett, head of household, a widow, aged 44 and born in Indiana. Living with her were her children, Frances, 21, William, 19, Mary, 17, Laura, 14, James, 12, and Lydia, aged ten.7
