Cornelius L Bailey II, son of George W Bailey and Sally Sackett, was born in New York StateG in 1864.1,2
     He was named after his soldier brother who had been killed at the battle of Gettysburg. Cornelius II served in the Spanish-American War in 1898-99 in a Syracuse company.
     In 1870 Cornelius was living in Romulus, Seneca County, New York StateG, in the household of his parents George and Sally, and was recorded in the census as Cornelius L Baley, aged five and born in New York.3

4610. Cornelius L. Baley, 1864–, of Syracuse, N. Y., son of (1903) George W. and Sally E. Sackett Baley, was born at Romulus, N. Y., and was named after his soldier brother, the 4605 of this record, who was killed at the battle of Gettysburgh. On July 11, 1898, he enlisted in a Syracuse company for the Spanish-American War and remained in the service until his company was mustered out April 25, 1899.
