Jehial Sackett, son of Colonel Niram Sackett and Catherine Thorn, was born in Dutchess County, New York StateG, on 15 September 1825.1,2 He died aged 77 on 9 August 1903.2 He married in Irving, New York StateG, on 3 July 1863, his second cousin, Laura Sackett, daughter of Nathan Sackett and Martha Wilson.3,2,4
In 1860 Jehial was living in Irving, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, in the household of his parents Niram and Catharine, and was recorded in the census as Jehial Sackett, a merchant, aged 34 and born in New York.5
In 1880 he was living in Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, and was recorded as Giles [sic] Sacket, a farmer, head of household, married, aged 54 and born in New York. Living with him his wife Laura, 52, and their children, Isabelle, 16, and Marcus, 14.6
In 1900 he was living in Hanover, Chautauqua CountyG, and was recorded as Jehial Sackett, head of household, aged 74 and born in New York in September 1825, married 37 years. He owned his house free of mortgage. Living with him was his wife Laura, aged 72.7
