Edith Marcia Powell, daughter of Edwin Chace Powell and Grace Julia Sackett, was born in New York StateG on 2 July 1897.1,2 She died aged 48 on 18 February 1946 and was buried at Longmeadow Cemetery, Hampden County, MassachusettsG.3 She married in Wilbraham, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 2 November 1918, Walter William Van der Wolk, son of August Van der Wolk and Augusta ___.4 Walter was born in Nelle, GermanyG, in about 1894.5
     In 1900 Edith was living in Ghent, Columbia County, New York StateG, in the household of her mother Grace, and was recorded in the census as Edith Powell, aged two and born in New York.6
     In 1910 she was living at Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in the household of her parents Edwin and Grace, and was recorded as Edith M Powell, aged twelve.7
     In 1930 she was living at Greenacre Avenue, LongmeadowG, in the household of her husband Walter, 24, an insurance agent, and was recorded as Edith Van der Wolk, aged 32. Living with them were their children, Walter Jr, 6, and Donald, aged three. There was also a female servant in the household.8
