Janet Helen Sackett, later Helen Jeanette Sackett, daughter of Augustus Lysander Sackett and Miranda Carter, was born in Ashland, Ashland County, OhioG, on 25 August 1848.1,2,3 She died aged 64 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, MichiganG, on 30 November 1912 and was buried at Ashland Cemetery, OhioG.4 She married in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, MichiganG, on 19 June 1876, James T Hood.5 James was born in Somerset, Perry County, OhioG, in about 1834.3
In 1850 Helen was living in Montgomery, Ashland County, OhioG, in the household of her parents Augustus and Miranda, and was recorded in the census as Janette Sackett, aged two and born in Ohio.6
In 1860 she was living in MontgomeryG in the household of her mother Miranda, and was recorded as Jennit Sackett, aged eleven.7
In 1870 she was living in Hayesville, Ashland CountyG, in the household of her mother Miranda, and was recorded as Janet Sackett, aged 21.8
