Henry Sackett was baptized at St John in Thanet, KentG, on 17 December 1815.1 He died aged 90 in ThanetG in 1906.2 He married at St John in ThanetG on 29 July 1837, Jane Stone, daughter of Daniel Stone.3,4 Jane was born in MargateG in about 1813.5 She died aged 686 and was buried at St John in ThanetG on 1 May 1881.7
     In 1841 Henry was living at West Northdown, St John, Margate, KentG, in the household of James Webb, 50, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Henry Sackett, a farmer, aged 25 and born in Kent. Living with him were his wife Jane, 25, and his father Henry, 65. Also in the household were a 20-year-old female servant and four agricultural labourers. Elizabeth would have been pregnant with her daughter at the date of the census and their children, Mary, 3, and Henry, 1, were staying with the Pound family at East Crescent, St John, Margate.8
     In 1851 he was living at 2 West Northdown, MargateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a farmer of 100 acres, employing six men, head of household, married, aged 36, and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Jane, aged 39, and born in Margate, and their children, Mary, 13, Elizabeth, 11, and Emma 6. Also in the household were three agricultural labourers.9
     In 1861 he was living at Farm House, St John's, MargateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a farmer of 104 acres, employing seven men, head of household, married, aged 44, and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Jane, aged 47, and born in Margate, and children Mary Jane, 22, Elizabeth, 19, and Emma J, 17.10
     In 1871 he was living at Northdown, St John's, Margate, KentG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a farmer of 104 acres, employing eight men, head of household, married, aged 55, and born in Margate. Living with him was his wife Jane, aged 58, and born in Margate. Also in the household were a male farm servant and a female general servant.11
     Henry was named as a beneficiary in his brother John's will made in SandwichG on 5 October 1880. He was left an amount of £50 and was appointed an executor.12
     In 1881 he was living at Sackett's Farm, St John's, Margate, KentG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a farmer employing eight men, head of household, a widower, aged 65, and born in Margate. Living with him was his widowed daughter Elizabeth Layng, aged 39. Also in the household were two female domestic servants and a male farm servant.13
     In 1891 he was living at Paragon Lodge, St Peter's, KentG, in the household of his widowed daughter Elizabeth, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a retired farmer, a widower, aged 75, and born in Margate. Also in the household was a female domestic servant.14
     In 1901 he was living at Paragon Lodge, Crow Hill, St Peter's, KentG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a retired farmer, head of household, a widower, aged 85, and born at Northdown, Kent. Living with him was his daughter Elizabeth Layng, a widow living on her own means, aged 59, and born at Northdown. Also in the household was a 19-year-old female domestic servant.15
