James Clarence Sackett, son of Justin Sacket and Sophia Marsh, was born in Springfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 6 August 1854.1,2 He died there aged 85 on 20 August 19393 and was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, SpringfieldG.4 He married in Bridgeport, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, on 17 December 1912, Marion Wade, daughter of Cyrus Allen Wade and Ascestra Marshall.5 Marion was born in Pelham, Westchester County, New York StateG, on 27 January 1869.6,7 She died aged 83 on 13 May 1952 and was buried at Oak Grove CemeteryG.4,8
     In 1860 James was living in SpringfieldG in the household of his parents Justin and Sophia, and was recorded in the census as James C Sackett, aged six and born in Massachusetts.9
     In 1870 he was living in Springfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in the household of his parents Justin and Sophia, and was recorded as James C Sackett, a laborer, aged 16.10
     James was a member of the Roswell Lodge of Freemasons in Springfield from 1880.11
     In 1900 he was living at Spring Street, SpringfieldG, and was recorded as James C Sackett, an excavations contractor, head of household, aged 46, single. He owned his home free of mortgage. His widowed mother Sophia, 75, was living with him. There was also a female servant in the household.12
     In 1920 he was living at St James Avenue, SpringfieldG, and was recorded as James C Sackett, cemetery superintendent, head of household, aged 65. His wife Marion, 50, was living with him. There was also a female cook in the household.13
     In 1930 he was living at Worthington Street, SpringfieldG, and was recorded as James C Sackett, cemetery superintendent, head of household, aged 75. He rented his home. His wife Marion, 61, was living with him.14
     In 1937 James and Marion were living at 1083 Worthington StreetG. James's widow Marion was listed there in the 1940 and 1952 city directories.15
