Thomas J Sacket, son of Enoch Sacket and Celestia Doane, was born in MassachusettsG on 18 May 1840.1,2 He married in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 27 December 1871, Mary Elisabeth Moseley.3
     In 1850 Thomas was living in WestfieldG in the household of his parents Enoch and Celestia, and was recorded in the census as Thomas Sacket, aged ten and born in Massachusetts.4
     In 1860 he was living in WestfieldG in the household of his parents Enoch and Celestia, and was recorded as Thomas J Sacket, a farm laborer, aged 20.5
     In 1870 he was living in WestfieldG in the household of his brother James, a farmer, and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, a farmer, aged 30.6
     Thomas was named as a beneficiary in the will of his great-aunt Harriet Sacket made in WestfieldG on 29 October 1849. He was left a sum of $100 but, following Harriet's death some years later in 1875 and the realisation of her assets, the sum actually inherited was $250.7
     In 1880 he was living in WestfieldG and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, a butcher, head of household, married, aged 40. Living with him was his wife Mary E, aged 33.8
