Byron Wales Bonney, son of William West Bonney and Mary Sacket, was born on 23 September 1841.1 He married on 25 December 1872, Emma C Keffer.1
     Byron Bonney served in the American Civil War as a corporal and sergeant in the 47th Regiment, Ohio Volunteers, of the Union Army, from 1861 to 1864. He fought in the Siege of Vicksburgh in 1862.
[Byron] enlisted in Co. D, 47th Regt. of Ohio Vols., in 1861, and served for three years and three months, as corporal and sergeant, participating in siege of Vicksburgh and a score of battles and skirmishes.
