Lemuel Miller Sackett, son of Lemuel Sacket and Mary Miller, was born on 1 May 1831.1 He died aged 77 at Mount Clemens, Macomb County, MichiganG, on 10 November 1908 and was buried at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton, Macomb County, MichiganG.2 He married on 24 November 1863, Emily Lucinda Cole, daughter of Joseph Cole and Sarah "Sally" Macomber.1 Emily was born in MichiganG on 22 December 1834.2 She died aged 90 at State College, Centre County, PennsylvaniaG, on 13 February 1925 and was buried at Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton, Macomb County, MichiganG.2
     Lemuel registered for the Civil War draft in Macomb, MichiganG, in June 1863. He was a farmer in Clinton, unmarried, aged 32 and born in Michigan.3
     In 1870 Lemuel was living in Clinton, Macomb County, MichiganG, and was recorded in the census as Lemuel Sackett, a farmer, aged 40. Living with him were his wife Emily, 36, their son Robert, aged two, and Emily's parents, Joseph Cole, 77, and Sally, 70.4
     In 1880 he was living at Mount Clemens, Macomb County, MichiganG, and was recorded as Lemuel M Sackett, a farmer, head of household, married, aged 47 and born in Michigan. Living with him were his wife Emily, 44, their son Robert, 11, and Emily's widowed mother Sarah Cole, aged 86.5
     Lemuel's widow Emily was listed in the 1909–10 Lafayette, Indiana, Directory. She was living with her son Robert and daughter-in-law Mary.6
     In 1910, Lemuel's widow Emily was living at Miami Avenue, Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, IndianaG, in the household of her son Robert and daughter-in-law Mary and was listed as Emily Sackett, aged 75.7
     In 1920 Lemuel's widow Emily was living on the State College Campus, College Township, Centre County, PennsylvaniaG, in the household of her son Robert and daughter-in-law Mary, and was recorded in the census as Emily L Sackett, a widow, aged 85 and born in Michigan.8
Mr. Sackett was by education and calling a surveyor and engineer. In early life he was employed for a considerable period in government surveying. Later he was city surveyor and engineer of Mount Clemens, Mich. When nearly 76 years of age, he was elected, on the Republican ticket, county surveyor.
