George C Smith, son of Alfred William Smith and Katherine Sackett, was born in Canterbury, KentG, in about 1887.1,2 He was killed in action during the First World War in the DardanellesG on 7 August 1915.3
     In 1891 George was living at 6 Myrtle Terrace, Canterbury, KentG, in the household of his parents Alfred and Katherine, and was recorded in the census as George C Smith, aged three and born in Canterbury.4
     In 1901 he was living at 10 Burrow Road, Folkestone, KentG, in the household of his brother Francis and sister-in-law Florence, and was recorded as George C Smith, an office boy, aged 13.5
