Percy Ernest Sackett, son of William Sackett and Rachel Link, was born in Canterbury, KentG, in 18771 and baptized at St Mildred Church, CanterburyG, on 7 January 1877.2 He died aged 33 in CanterburyG in 1910.3 He married at St Mildred Church, Canterbury, KentG, on 20 December 1903, Rose (Hoare) Harlow, daughter of Jessie Hoare.4,5 Rose was born in Chartham, KentG, in about 1878.6 She was the widow of Alfred Harlow who she had married in Elham, Kent, in 1900, and who had died there aged 25 in 1902.7,8,9 She married third in Bridge, KentG, in 1913, Ernest Smith.10,11

Percy served in the British Army, enlisting for six years in the East Kent Regiment "The Buffs" at CanterburyG on 15 November 1894. He bought an early discharge for £18 on 5 November 1897.14
In 1901 he was living at 3 Ivy Place, CanterburyG, in the household of his parents William and Rachel, and was recorded as Percy Sackett, bricklayers' labourer, single, aged 24.15
In 1911 Percy's widow Rose was living at 3 New Ruttington Lane, Canterbury, KentG, and was recorded in the census as Rose Sackett, widow, charwoman, aged 33 and born in Chartham, Kent. Living with her were her children, Rose Louisa, 10, Percy, 7, Ivy, 3, and Robert, aged two. The family were boarding in the household of Charlotte Williams, a fish hawker.16,17
