In 1871 Emma was living at 3 Acre Street, Newington, LondonG, in the household of her parents Samuel and Emma, and was recorded in the census as Emma Sackett, aged five and born in Southwark.5
In 1881 she was living at 60 Henshaw Street, Newington, SurreyG, in the household of her widowed mother Emma, and was recorded as Emma Sackett, a machinist, aged 15 and born in Newington.6
In 1891 she was living at 19 Allen Street, Newington, LondonG, in the household of her husband Charles, 26, a carman, and was recorded as Emma Simmons, a tailoress, aged 25. Living with them were their children Charles, 7, Henry, 6, William, 4, and Charlotte, aged two.7
