Emma Jane Sackett, daughter of Samuel Henry Sackett and Emma Rosetta Roberts, was born in Newington, SurreyG, in 1865.1,2 She married at St Thomas Church, Bethnal Green, MiddlesexG, on 27 November 1882, Charles Simmons, son of William Simmons and Charlotte ___.3 Charles was born in Newington, LondonG, in about 1864.4,2
     In 1871 Emma was living at 3 Acre Street, Newington, LondonG, in the household of her parents Samuel and Emma, and was recorded in the census as Emma Sackett, aged five and born in Southwark.5
     In 1881 she was living at 60 Henshaw Street, Newington, SurreyG, in the household of her widowed mother Emma, and was recorded as Emma Sackett, a machinist, aged 15 and born in Newington.6
     In 1891 she was living at 19 Allen Street, Newington, LondonG, in the household of her husband Charles, 26, a carman, and was recorded as Emma Simmons, a tailoress, aged 25. Living with them were their children Charles, 7, Henry, 6, William, 4, and Charlotte, aged two.7
     In 1901 she was living at 7 Crosslet Street, Southwark, LondonG, in the household of her husband Charles, 35, an egg salesman, and was recorded as Emma Simmons, aged 34. Living with them were their children, Charles, 17, Henry, 16, William, 14, Maud, 9, Albert, 7, George, 5, and Ernest, aged seven months.8
     In 1911 she was living at 42 Peacock Street, Newington Butts, LondonG, in the household of her husband Charles, 45, a stage carpenter, and was recorded as Emma Simmons, a mantle machinist, aged 44. Living with them were their children, Albert, 17, George, 14, and Ernest, aged 12.9
