John Wesley Sackett, son of Rev Benjamin Sackett and Elizabeth Lee, was born in Langford, OxfordshireG, in 1875.1,2 He died aged 57 at home at 33 Pendle Road, Streatham, LondonG, on 4 October 19323,4 and was buried at Hornchurch Cemetery, EssexG, on 7 October 1932.5 He married at St George in the East, LondonG, in 1898, Ada Wiles, daughter of Thomas Wiles and Martha ___.6,7 Ada was born in St George in the East, LondonG, on 23 July 1875.8,9,10 She died aged 81 at home at 279 Leigham Court Road, Streatham, LondonG, on 3 December 195611,4 and was buried at Hornchurch Cemetery, EssexG, on 7 December 1956.12
In 1881 John was living at 7 Trinity Terrace, Stepney, MiddlesexG, and was recorded in the census as John W Sackett, aged 6 and born in Langford, Oxford, the son of Benjamin Sackett.13
In 1891 he was living at 14 Albert Square, Stepney, MiddlesexG, and was recorded as John Wesley Sackett, a shipbroker's clerk (employed), aged 16 and born in Langford, Oxford, the son of Benjamin Sackett.14
In 1901 John was living at 1 Arundell Villas, Chelmsford Road, St Mary, Woodford, EssexG, and was recorded in the census as John Wesley Sackett, a bookkeeper, head of household, married, aged 26 and born in Langford, Oxford. Living with him were his wife Ada, aged 25 and born in St George's in the East, London, and Ada's 64-year-old widowed mother Martha Willis [or Wiles?].15
In 1911 he was living at 33 Pendle Road, Streatham, LondonG, and was recorded as John Wesley Sackett, a merchant's clerk, head of household, aged 36 and born in Langford. Living with him were his wife Ada, 35, and Ada's mother Martha.16
In 1921 he was living at 33 Pendle Road, StreathamG, and was recorded as John W Sackett, a bookkeeper at a stevedores company, head of household, aged 46. Living with him were his wife Ada, 45, and Ada's widowed mother Martha Wiles.17
John left a will which was proved on 1 December 1932 by his widow Ada. His estate was valued at £7,538.18
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, John's widow Ada was living at 33 Pendle Road, Wandsworth, LondonG.19
John's widow Ada left a will which was proved on 2 April 1957 by Amelia Baker and William Hatch. Her estate was valued at £4,545.20
