James Washington Pogue, son of Preston Patrick Pogue and Aner Sackett, was born in OhioG on 3 July 1845.2,3 He died aged 74 on 24 October 1919 and was buried at Blue Ridge Cemetery, Polk County, NebraskaG.5 He married about 1868, Matilda Jane Berryhill.4 She was born in OhioG on 13 April 1851.2,6 She died aged 58 in NebraskaG on 21 March 1910.6
In 1850 James was living at Sugar Creek, Greene County, OhioG, in the household of his parents Preston and Aner, and was recorded in the census as James W Pogue, aged four and born in Ohio.7
In 1860 he was living in Brown, Miami CountyG, in the household of his parents Preston and Aner, and was recorded as James W Pogue, aged 13.8
In 1880 James was living in Precinct D, Seward County, NebraskaG, and was recorded in the census as James Pogue, a farmer, head of household, married, aged 34 and born in Ohio. Living with him were his wife Matilda, 29, and their children, Lily, 11, Perry, 8, Alice, 7, and Ruth, aged ten months.9
