Alfred Sackett, son of David Sackett and Margaret Voyles, was born in IllinoisG in 1823.2 He died in Artesia, Los Angeles County, CaliforniaG, in 1873.2 He married in Yreka, Siskiyou County, CaliforniaG, on 1 October 1857, Permelia Varvell, daughter of Isaac Varvell and Mary Pulliam Polly. Permelia was born in Rocheport, Boone County, MissouriG, on 2 September 1833.2,3 She died at La Grange, Stanislaus County, CaliforniaG, on 5 March 1925.2
     In 1880 Alfred's widow Permelia was living in Los Nietos, Los Angeles County, CaliforniaG, and was recorded in the census as Permelia Sackett, head of household, a widow, aged 46, born in Missouri. Also in the household were her four sons, Homer (20), Joseph (17), Leonard (10) and Alfred (8.)3
