Amanda Sackett, daughter of Aaron Sacket and Phebe Hart, was born in Litchfield, ConnecticutG, on 23 August 1795.1,2 She died in Cattaraugus County, New York StateG, on 28 January 1871 and was buried at Riceville Cemetery, West Valley, Cattaraugus CountyG.3 She married on 9 March 1817, Joseph Remington, son of Joshua Remington and Eunice Sprague.2 Joseph was born on 15 November 1792.3 He died aged 74 in Cattaraugus County, New York StateG, on 3 October 1867 and was buried at Riceville CemeteryG.3
In 1850 Amanda was living in Ashford, Cattaraugus CountyG, in the household of her husband Joseph Remington, 58, a farmer, and was recorded in the census as Amanda Remington, aged 55 and born in Connecticut. Living with them were their children, Aurora, 28, Bela, 22, Melinda, 21, Joseph, 17, and Persis, aged 15.4
