Nathan Sackett, son of Major Buell Sackett and Sally Earl Beach, was born in New York StateG on 15 May 1794.1,2 He died aged 79 on 25 April 1874.1 He married in Jeffersonville, Clark County, IndianaG, on 8 April 1827, Martha Patricia Daukin.1,3,4 Martha was born in Warsaw, Genesee County, New York StateG, in 1807.5
Nathan was listed in the 1820 census as a householder in Utica, Clark CountyG.6 In 1830 he was a householder in Jeffersonville, Clark CountyG.7
In 1850 Nathan was living in Cloverdale, Putnam County, IndianaG, and was recorded in the census as Nathan Sackett, a carpenter, aged 55 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Martha, 43, and their children, John, 22 (with his wife Elizabeth, 15), Norvell, 19, David, 17, Alonzo, 15, Sarah, 12, William, 10, and Nathan C, aged seven.8
In 1860 he was living in CloverdaleG and was recorded as Nathan Sackett, a house joiner, aged 66. Living with him were his wife Martha, 53, and their children, Sarah, 21, and Nathan C, 15.9
In 1870 he was living in CloverdaleG and was recorded as Nathan Sackett, a farmer, aged 76. Living with him were his wife Martha, 63, and their daughter Sarah Givens, 30, with her three children.10
