William Edgar Sackett, son of William Henry Sackett and Elethea A Higgins, was born in New York StateG on 5 April 1823.1,2 He died aged 73 on 7 October 18961 and was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, BrooklynG.3 He married on 3 March 1847, Josephine Findlay, daughter of William Findlay and Alicia Van Buskirk.1 Josephine was born in February 1826.1,2 She died aged about 75 in 1901.1
In 1850 William was living in New York CityG in the household of his parents William and Elethea, and was recorded in the census as William E Sackett, a clerk, aged 25 and born in New York (a record for his wife Josephine in 1850 has not been found).4
In 1880 he was living in Greenwich, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, and was recorded as William Edgar Sackett, aged 52 [actually 57]. Living with him were his wife Josephine, 50 [54], and their children, Josephine, 21 [28], Florence, 19 [27], Teresa, 17 [25], Clara, 14 [20], and Eugenia, aged 14.5 [19]
