1151. Justin Sacket, 1815-1897, of Springfield, Mass., son of (511) Elijah Sacket, was a noted landscape gardener. He laid out Forest Park, in Springfield, which is one of the most attractive city parks in New England. The following is related as an illustration of his "inventiveness" as well as his wit:

One day he was driving with a friend, who asked him, out of curiosity, how he would plan a road to the top of a certain hill they were passing. "Well," said Mr. Sackett, with a twinkle in his eye, "I should turn in some cows awhile and watch how they got up."
