"Orlan Sackett, one of the pioneer settlers of Roscoe, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Scofield, near Zumbrota, on Wednesday, Dec. 13, after an illness of several weeks duration. As above stated Mr. Sackett was a pioneer of Roscoe, where he lived for many years, finally selling his farm and drifting away as so many others did before and have since done. No particulars are obtainable at this time, but will be published later. Deceased was about 80 of age."

"Orlin Sackett was born at Naples, Ontario County, New York, Oct. 7, 1824. He married Elizabeth Hanscum and shortly after moved to Nashville Centre, Minn., where he lived until he moved to Rosco in 1865.
Mrs. Sackett died in 1889.
Mr. Sackett has lived for the past three years with Mrs. A. Conklin at Winnebago City.
At the time of his death he was visiting his daughter, Mrs. Warren Scofield of this place. The funderal services were held at the National Centre church of Nashville and he was buried at the cemetery at that place.
Rev. Jameson of Winnebago City officiated.
Mr. Sackett leaves to mourn his death, George Sackett of Fairpoint, Minn., Mrs. Clyde Doolittle, D. Dak., Mrs. O. Conklin of Winnebago, Edward and Elton Sackett, also of Winnebago, Mrs. C.W. Scofield."
