John Sackett, yeoman of St Peter in Thanet, son of William Sackett and Johan ___, was baptized at St Lawrence Church, St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent, on 22 October 1564.1 He died in St Peter in Thanet on 24 February 1623/24.2,3 He was buried at St Peter's Church on 27 February 1623/24, where is found a memorial brass plate

age upon the 24 of February Anno Dn'i 1623.4,5
John was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in Jordan Down, St John in Thanet, on 20 December 1572.6
John married Agnes Sampson on 14 October 1588 St Peter's Church.7 (She was referred to as Agnes on her marriage record but as Ann in both her husband's will and her own will and on her burial record; it is clear from the contents of their wills that Ann and Agnes were the same).
John is recorded as having given his consent in the marriage licences of his son Richard and of his daughter Ann, both marriages taking place in 1620.8,9
John made his will in St Peter in Thanet on 8 February 1623/24, naming as beneficiaries his wife Ann/Agnes, his sons William, Richard, John and Steven, his daughters Margaret, Marie and Ann, and his granddaughters Ann Cleybrooke, Elizabeth Cleybrooke and Margaret Cleybrooke.10
John's widow Anna made her will on 31 January 1630/31 Swalecliffe, Kent,, naming as beneficiaries her sons William, John, Richard and Steven; and her daughters Margaret, Marie and Ann.11

He did not, however, mention his granddaughter Etheldred Cleybrooke. John would appear to have been a reasonably prosperous yeoman farmer and was able to leave farms to each of his four sons, that to his youngest son Steven being held by John's widow Ann until Steven came of age.
