Benjamin Sackett, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Hannah Newing, was born in St Lawrence Church on 30 September 1789.1 He was baptized at St Lawrence Church on 14 October 1789.2 He died aged 64 in St Lawrence in January 1854.3,4,5 He was buried at St Lawrence Churchyard on 25 January 1854.5,3 Benjamin's first partner, Ann Cox, died in childbirth in July 1811 following the birth of a son, also Benjamin. The senior Benjamin married at St George's Church, Hanover Square, Westminster, Middlesex, on 11 October 1815, Mary Gore.6 Mary was born in Faversham, Kent, between 1780 and 1787.7 She was buried at St Lawrence Church, Thanet, on 7 October 1862.8,9
     In 1841 Benjamin was living at High Street, Ramsgate, Kent, and was recorded in the census as Benjamine Sacket, a gardener, aged 50 and born in Kent. Living with him was his wife Mary, 50. Also in the household was a ten-year-old Mary Gore, presumably a relation of Benjamin's wife.10
     In 1851 he was living at Pegwell, St Lawrence, Kent, and was recorded as Benjamin Sackett, a gardener, head of household, married, aged 61, and born in St Lawrence. Living with him was his wife Mary, aged 63, and born in Faversham, Kent.11
     In 1861 Benjamin's widow Mary was living at 19 Hertford Place, Ramsgate, Kent, in the household of Edmund Edney and family, and was recorded in the census as Mary Sackett, a widow, aged 78, and born in Faversham, Kent.12
