John Sackett, shipwright of Bermondsey, Surrey, son of John Sackett and Catherine Andrews, was born in St Peter in Thanet, Kent, on 11 January 1782.1 He was baptized at St Peter's Church, Thanet, on 27 January 1782.1 He died in Bermondsey in 1851.2 He married in about 1803, Louisa ___. Louisa was born in West Ham, Essex, in about 1784.3,4 Louisa ___ died in Bermondsey in 1852.5
In 1841 John was living at Salisbury Lane, St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, Surrey, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, a shipwright, aged 59, born not in Surrey. The other members of his household were his wife Louisa, aged 57, also born outside Surrey, and his son Eli, aged 17.6
In 1851 John's widow Louisa was living at 6 Perseverance Court, Bermondsey, Surrey, and was recorded in the census as Laura [sic] Sackett, a widow aged 67 and born in West Ham, Middlesex, the mother of Vincent Sackett.4
