Benjamin Sacket, son of John Sacket and Deborah Filley, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts, on 31 October 1698.1,2,3,4 He died aged about 54 in 1753.1 He married in Westfield on 4 December 1729, Thankful King, daughter of David King and Abigail Sacket.1,5,6,7 Benjamin and Thankful were first cousins, their respective father and mother being siblings.
Benjamin made his will on 27 August 1746 in Sheffield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts,, naming as beneficiaries his wife Thankful; his sons Benjamin, King and Zebulon; and his daughter Deborah. Not mentioned by name was his daughter Abigail. He appointed his wife Thankful and his brother Daniel executors.8
The omission by name in Benjamin's will of his daughter Abigail may indicate that she was born after the date of the will. The will does, however, refer to daughters in the plural. It would appear from provisions in the will for an unborn child that Thankful was pregnant at the time. In the event, Benjamin survived a further seven years after making his will.
